Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is thrilled to invite you to its 2021 Spring Gala, Twenty-Twenty-Won: Winning Despite Adversity! The virtual event will feature speakers and a panel focused on the theme of resilience and hope. Please join us as we reflect on the challenges and successes of 2020 experienced by RLC, our restaurant partners and our HSA partners.
Every year, 40% of all produced food in the USA is wasted and thrown away. Rescuing even one third of the wasted food would be enough to eliminate hunger in the US. During COVID, the number of food insecure individuals is higher than before, reaching 42 million Americans. In 2020 alone, RLC rescued over 750,000 lbs of food across eight US cities and broke fundraising records. The 2021 Spring Gala hopes to celebrate these accomplishments and support a cause that has become more important than ever.
Eight years ago, RLC was founded based on CEO Robert Lee’s passion. Coming from a food insecure home in Queens, Robert was moved to quit his job at a major bank to reduce food waste and hunger in NYC. With the money raised from this event, RLC will work towards a world where simultaneously food security and food waste are eliminated.
All proceeds will benefit Rescuing Leftover Cuisine. Ticket holders and sponsors will be sent an event attendee box as an interactive component of the virtual gala.
Event hosts commit to joining and expanding our community of food rescuers and raising $500 through silent auction items, ticket sales or sponsorships.
Benefits of being an event host include, joining the RLC team, two tickets for the event, opportunity for collateral to be shared in gift bags, host name on event program, and staff dedicated to help hosts share RLC’s mission.
